Community Bathing Program
The Community Bathing Program is a support service provided to assist people living at home to remain independent. The program is designed for people who cannot safely use the bathing facilities in their home -even with the addition of devices such as grab bars and bath boards. The program offers the following services and supports:
- Attention to personal hygiene needs including a tub bath, shampoo and blow-dry, grooming and basic fingernail and toe nail care;
- Monitoring the client's well-being and referral to the Family Physician or care-giver for follow-up when issues are identified;
- Minor treatments such as medicated shampoos, prescription creams and dressing changes when the client brings the necessary items and the scope of intervention is within the mandate and capacity of the service and staff training;
- Individualized care to meet each client's particular needs provided by a skilled nursing assistant
- A private environment for the client's comfort and ease;
- A social outing
Transportation to and from the facility can be provided and a pre-arranged regular appointment can be established to ensure continuity of care.
