Adult Day Care
Adult Day Care Programs are community-based services that are designed to enhance the health and quality of life for seniors and people living with disabilities. Adult Day Programs often provide both a structured setting for the client to maintain physical, cognitive and functional skills as well as providing the caregiver a respite or break from what can be a challenging role.
The Adult Day Program is funded by the Vancouver Island Health Authority and operates within the Greenwoods Care Facility three days per week. Access to this program is via assessment by the Vancouver Island Health Authority assessor. Clients of the program are eligible to attend more than one day per week should there be a need for additional service. A typical day at the program might include social interaction, arts and crafts, music appreciation/therapy, discussion groups and trips into the community to attend events such as the Christmas light tour or country fair. A small daily fee is charged for the program and transportation can be provided with one of the two accessible buses Greenwoods Eldercare Society operates.
